What Others are Saying

As a mother who spends most of the day taking care of a two-year-old boy at home alone, I was especially grateful for Femme Safety's counsel regarding home and family safety issues."

— J.L., 35,
Professional on prolonged "mother sabbatical."

Our Mission Print E-mail
Our mission is to help women maximize their personal safety with practical strategies focused on the avoidance of crime.

All our coursework is premised on these five principles:

  1. Awareness
Learn to maintain an elevated yet relaxed state of awareness of your surroundings; This is also known as situational awareness and is always your first and best line of defense.

  2. Knowledge
Crime is usually a planned process that exhibits identifiable stages and recognizable patterns. Study them, and you will be better able to spot danger earlier, giving you more time to react and avoid trouble.

  3. Intuition and Instincts
Learn precisely why instincts (including fear) are vital tools that warn you of imminent danger, not emotions to be discarded as “irrational” or “silly”.

  4. Strategy
Learn to be proactive & strategic with regard to your personal safety in all phases of daily activity, versus being unprepared and therefore reactive.

  5. Simulation & Scenario Based Training*
Our training places heavy emphasis on role playing and actively simulating specific scenarios covered in the classroom. This reinforces muscle memory, giving us the best chance of reflexively defaulting to key skills when they are most needed and there is no time to think.

*The nature of proposed simulations are always discussed before being implemented allowing for modification or exclusion depending on the sensitivity of the audience.
